'Around the World in 14 Films' is an independent international film festival that every year brings 14 extraordinary films from 14 regions around the world, to show and share with Berlin's discerning cinema public.
Each of the 14 films will be presented by another leading German director, who will introduce both the film and the director, and then moderate a discussion with the audience and the director immediately after the film.
This year the independent German director Angela Schanelec presented Nuri Bilge Ceylan and his film 'Once Upon A Time in Anatolia' to the audience and then moderated the discussion.

Three Awards to 'Anatolia' at Asia Pacific Screen Awards
Two Oscar foreign-language contenders, Iran's "A Separation" and Turkey's "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia," were the big winners at Thursday's Asia Pacific Screen Awards, which took place in Queensland, Australia...
Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" won awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography, as well as receiving the Screen International Jury Grand Prize.
The two winners "are very different kinds of films, but both of them are the same in their excellence in every aspect of their filmmaking: from screenplay, to directing, to performances, to their technical craftsmanship such as cinematography and editing, everything," said APSA International Jury president Nansun Shi in a release announcing the winners...

Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be the international chief guest at the 17th Kolkata Film Festival. Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore will inaugurate the festival that will take place from November 10-17, 2011. The festival that had a reputation for showcasing art-house cinema only will also have Shahrukh Khan as a special guest this year.

New York Film Festival
The opportunity to see two intimidating landmarks — "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" and "The Turin Horse" — is reason enough for any filmgoer with more than a passing interest in the evolution of world cinema to be grateful for the platform of the New York Film Festival. Because the chances that either movie will soon be coming to a theater near you, as they say, are next to nil, the best time to see them may be at Alice Tully Hall in the coming week.
The Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan's stately, absorbing 157-minute police procedural, "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia," has only one festival screening, on Saturday.(...)
Flecked with magical realist touches and a sense of the supernatural, the film takes no shortcuts as its characters discharge their laborious and depressing duties. The autopsy of the corpse concludes the film's sorrowful, unblinking dissection of the human condition. This third film by Mr. Ceylan to be showcased at the festival, following "Distant" in 2003 and "Climates," in 2006. "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" is, in a word, great.

A Separation, Anatolia lead Asia Pacific Screen Awards nominations A Separation by Asghar Farhadi, and Anatolia by Nuri Bilge Ceylan have the most nominations with four each. Both represent their countries in the 2012 Academy Awards race and have been much acclaimed.
The nominees were made public by 2011 international jury president, Hong Kong producer Nansun Shi, at the Pusan International Film Festival this evening. They were chosen from 240 entries and encompass 37 films from 19 countries and areas.
'Anatolia' has been nominated in four catagories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay. (Screen International) >>>

'Anatolia' on road to Oscars Nuri Bilge Ceylan's 'Once Upon A Time In Anatolia' is Turkey's official submission in the Best Foreign Language Film category of next year's Academy Awards.
The film won the Grand Prix at the 64th Cannes Film Festival and it will now compete for the honor to be among the five nominees at the Academy Award ceremony in February and try to bring a coveted gold statue home to Turkey.
Ceylan's film was selected by the Turkey's Oscar committee, which consists of representatives of nongovernmental organizations.
"Anatolia" will run against submissions from other countries to make it into the five-film shortlist of nominees for the foreign language Oscar. The nominees will be announced on January 2012 and the 84th edition of the Academy Awards will take place February 2012 (Euronews.net) >>> October 2011

"Anatolia" in Sarajevo 'Anatolia' will be presented to the Sarajevo audience in the the Open Air Cinema by the director Ceylan and the numerous crew, leading protagonists of the film: Muhammet Uzuner, Yılmaz Erdoğan, Taner Birsel, Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan and Ercan Kesal. The arrival of the crew of the film 'Once Upon A Time in Anatolia' at the Sarajevo Film Festival attracted also a large number of Turkish media which are coming to Sarajevo in order to follow the premiere screening of the film and presentation of the crew on the Sarajevo Red Carpet.

The First Screening in 'homeland' Turkey Bir Zamanlar Anadolu'da filminin Türkiye Galası Adana Altın Koza film Festivali bünyesinde yarışma dışı bir özel gösterim olarak 21 Eylül 2011 gecesi Cinebonus sinemalarında gerçekleşti. Film ekibi neredeyse tam kadro olarak Adana'ya geldi...
"Nuri Bilge Ceylan'ın son filmi Bir Zamanlar Anadolu'da'nın Adana'da Altın Koza Film Festivali kapsamında yapılan galası, yoğun bir ilgiyle gerçekleşti. Alışıldık galalar gibi ünlüler geçidi şeklinde değil, Adana halkının katılımıyla. Alışveriş merkezi içindeki sinemanın iki salonunda düzenlenmesi planlanmıştı... Katılanların sayısı beklenenden çok olunca salonlara sığılmadı. Shootings
have been completed.. 'Once Upon A Time in Anatolia' had been shot in about 11 weeks in the steppes of middle Anatolia close to "Keskin", a middle Anatolian town next to the city of Kirikkale. The editing and the post production is planned to be made in Istanbul.
